July brings some of the most exciting, diverse, and community-focused events across the Upper Midwest—from lakeside festivals to artsy fairs, pet-friendly fun, and vibrant music celebrations. Whether you’re planning a family day out, a pup-approved adventure, or an adult night on the town, there’s an event calling your name across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.


🌲 Minnesota


1. Red, White & Boom! – Minneapolis (July 4)

Celebrate Independence Day with fitness classes, family activities, dance, and live music by the Mississippi River—culminating in dazzling fireworks at dusk near Stone Arch Bridge and Water Works .


2. Lutsong Music Festival – Lutsen (July 10–13)

A lakeside Napster on the North Shore featuring bluegrass, indie, and folk tunes, paired with artisan vendors and scenic views—perfect for families and music lovers.


3. Pets in the Park – Robbinsdale (July 24)

Bring your pup to Kelly Park for pet-centric activities like photo booths, trivia, nail trims, and live band performances—it’s pet-friendly, fun, and free.


4. Loring Park Dog Show – Minneapolis (July 31)

An evening “best-in-show” under the trees—wear your leash, bring your pup, and cheer on dogs competing for titles like “silliest trick” or “waggiest tail.” Kid- and pet-approved.


🧀 Wisconsin


1. Bark After Dark – Greenfield (July 11)

An evening pet festival at Konkel Park’s AMP venue featuring dog vendors, live music, food trucks, a beer garden, and a Twilight Trail Walk—leashed dogs welcome.


2. Pet Walk Ozaukee – Mequon (July 19)

The Wisconsin Humane Society’s biggest pet event: walk with your dog, shop vendor booths, enjoy family games, raffles, and maybe enter the cutest-costume contest—all for a good cause.



3. Summer Festivals (Central WI)

From county fairs and cheese fests to outdoor concerts and art fairs, Wisconsin’s mid‑July lineup brings a rich mix of family, pet-friendly, and adult activities—check local guides.


🏞 Michigan


1. Boyne City July 4th Fest – Boyne City (July 3–4)

Two days packed with morning run/walks, waterfront art shows and live music, kids’ activities, a parade, and fireworks shot from a harbor barge—total family fun.


2. Manistee National Forest Festival – Manistee (July 2–6)

An 80+‑year‑old tradition featuring carnival rides, arts & crafts fair, lumberjack demos, parade, marketplace, and majestic fireworks over Lake Michigan.


3. Bay City Fireworks Festival – Bay City (July 3–5)

A multi-night Fourth of July celebration with concerts, carnival rides, boat cruises, and spectacular fireworks displays over the Saginaw River near Veterans Memorial Bridge.


4. Sterlingfest Art & Music Fair – Sterling Heights (Late July)

Called “Michigan’s Best Summer Festival,” this three-day arts, jazz, blues, and carnival fest includes kid zones, art exhibits, food courts, beer gardens, and hot-air balloon glows.
