Why We’re Moving to Florida After Living in Minnesota Our Entire Lives

Big life changes can be both exciting and a little scary — and right now we’re stepping into one of the biggest changes of our lives.

After living in Minnesota our entire lives, we’ve made the decision to move to Florida. It’s something we’ve talked about for a long time, and now that it’s finally happening, it still feels a little surreal. Minnesota will always be home in many ways, but we’re incredibly excited for this next chapter.

Today I wanted to share why we’re making this move, what inspired the decision, and what’s coming next for the blog.

The Weather Was the Biggest Reason

Let’s be honest — if you live in Minnesota, you know how long and brutal the winters can be.

Winters in Minnesota often stretch for months with freezing temperatures, snowstorms, and icy roads. While there’s beauty in fresh snowfall and cozy winter days, the reality is that the cold can make everyday life feel more difficult.

We’ve spent decades dealing with:

• Subzero temperatures

• Snow-covered driveways

• Long stretches of gray winter days

• Bundling up just to leave the house

And while we’ve always made the most of it, we started realizing how much we crave sunshine, warmth, and being able to spend more time outdoors year-round.

Moving to Florida means trading snow boots for sandals and icy mornings for sunshine. The idea of waking up to warm weather and palm trees instead of snowstorms feels like a dream.

We’re Ready for a New Adventure

Another big reason for our move is simple: we’re ready for something new.

After living in the same state our entire lives, we felt like it was time to step outside our comfort zone and experience life somewhere different.

There’s something exciting about starting fresh in a new place — learning new communities, discovering hidden gems, and exploring areas we’ve never been before.

Florida offers so many unique destinations and landscapes, from:

• Beautiful beaches

• Coastal towns

• State parks and nature preserves

• Historic cities and waterfront communities

  
  

As people who love exploring and sharing travel experiences, it felt like the perfect place for our next chapter.

So Many New Places to Explore

One of the things we’re most excited about is having an entirely new region to explore.

Living in Florida will put us close to so many amazing destinations, including:

• The stunning beaches along the Gulf of America

• The vibrant cities along the Atlantic Coast

• National parks and natural springs

• Charming coastal towns and hidden gems

For someone who loves travel, photography, and discovering new places, Florida feels like a playground of adventures waiting to happen.

A New Direction for the Blog

If you’ve followed along with our adventures for a while, you know that travel and exploring have always been a big part of this blog.

Right now, most of the content focuses on Midwest travel, small towns, and local experiences — especially in Minnesota and surrounding states.

But as we make this move, the blog will naturally start to evolve.

Over the next several months I’ll be sharing:

• The process of moving across the country

• What we’re learning along the way

• Our experiences settling into Florida life

• New places we discover and explore

Eventually, the blog will begin transitioning from primarily Midwest travel to Florida adventures, hidden gems, and travel guides.

But don’t worry — the heart of the blog will stay the same: discovering amazing places and sharing experiences that inspire others to explore.

One thing I’m really excited about is sharing this entire journey with you.
