We spent the day exploring cozy coffee shops, browsing downtown boutiques, enjoying incredible food, and taking in some of the area’s beautiful scenery. Here’s everything we did and why New London deserves a spot on your Minnesota bucket list.

Start Your Morning at New London Bakery

There’s no better way to begin your day than with a stop at New London Bakery.

The smell of fresh-baked pastries hits you the moment you walk through the door. Whether you’re craving a classic donut, cinnamon roll, fresh bread, or a sweet pastry, everything is made fresh and worth arriving early for.

It’s the kind of hometown bakery that reminds you why small-town Minnesota is so special.

Grab Coffee at Waysetter Coffee

After breakfast, walk over to Waysetter Coffee, one of the coolest coffee shops we’ve visited.

Located inside the historic theater building downtown, this coffee shop has such a welcoming atmosphere. The combination of great coffee, cozy seating, and beautiful architecture makes it a place you’ll want to linger for a while.

Whether you’re grabbing a latte to-go or sitting down to relax, it’s the perfect stop before exploring downtown.

Wander Through Downtown New London

One of our favorite parts of the day was simply strolling through downtown.

New London has that classic small-town feel with locally owned boutiques, gift shops, charming storefronts, and beautiful historic buildings. It’s incredibly walkable and full of places that make you want to slow down and explore.

You’ll find unique home décor, gifts, clothing, locally made products, and plenty of opportunities to support small businesses.

It’s one of those downtowns where every shop has its own personality.

Enjoy the Views Around Mill Pond

New London is often called the “City on the Pond,” and once you visit, you’ll understand why.

The Mill Pond area is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. Take a walk along the water, enjoy the scenic views, or simply sit on a bench and soak in the slower pace of life.

This area is especially beautiful during the summer and fall when everything is green and colorful.

If you’re into photography, this is one of the best spots in town.

Explore Sibley State Park

Just minutes outside of town is one of Minnesota’s most underrated state parks—Sibley State Park.

Whether you’re looking for a short nature walk or a longer hike, there are trails for every skill level. The park is full of beautiful woods, rolling hills, lakes, and wildlife.

It’s easy to spend several hours here if you enjoy being outdoors.

Drive to Mount Tom Observatory

One highlight you won’t want to miss is Mount Tom Observatory.

The drive up is beautiful, and once you reach the top you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views overlooking the surrounding countryside and lakes.

This is easily one of the best photo spots in the area.

Visit Andrew Lake

While you’re exploring the park, make time to stop at Andrew Lake.

If you enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding, this area is especially scenic.

End the Day at Goat Ridge Brewing Company

After a full day of exploring, we wrapped up our trip at Goat Ridge Brewing Company.

This local brewery has a fantastic atmosphere with a beautiful riverside patio that’s perfect during the warmer months.

Even if beer isn’t your thing, the food alone is worth stopping for.

We loved relaxing outside while enjoying great food and soaking up the small-town atmosphere.
