My Wellness Routine at 46: What Actually Works for Me
Turning 46 changed how I think about wellness. I'm not chasing perfect anymore. I want to feel good, have steady energy, and keep dreaming big for the next chapter. After years of trying everything, here's what has stuck.

Energy: Start Simple, Stay Consistent

I used to run on dirt coke, Alani drinks and willpower. Now I focus on the basics that make energy last:
A real morning routine. I wake up, get sunlight on my face, and move a little before I look at my phone. It sounds small, but it sets the tone for my whole day.
Protein early. Breakfast is where I'm most intentional (high protein). When I skip it, I feel it by 10 a.m.
Products I actually use. Through my work with Bravenly, I only share products that are genuinely part of my own routine.
I start my mornings with Ignite and Rush, which I use for steady energy, focus, mood, and appetite support. At the end of the day, I wind down with my Gold latte, which has become one of my favorite nighttime rituals and supports inflammation and overall wellness.
These aren’t products I simply recommend — they’re products I personally use consistently and have made part of my everyday routine.

After more than ten years in the shake shop and salt room world, I've learned that wellness works best when it's easy enough to keep doing.
Hydration: The Unsexy Habit That Changes Everything

I'm not perfect about it, but when I drink enough water, my energy, skin, and mood all improve.
I start the day with a big glass of water before anything else.
I keep a favorite water bottle within reach, because if it's cute, I'll carry it everywhere.
I usually add lemon & electrolytes when plain water feels boring.
Beach days get extra water. Sunshine and salt air are wonderful, but they're dehydrating.
Beach Walks: My Favorite Kind of Therapy
Moving closer to the Gulf has been one of the best parts of this Minnesota-to-Florida move. A walk on the beach does something a treadmill never could.

A year ago I was dreaming about mornings like this. Now I get to live them.
It's movement that feels like play. I don't think of it as a workout, which is why I keep doing it.
It clears my head. Waves, sunshine, and no agenda. That's where my best ideas show up.
It's free and flexible. Ten minutes counts. So does an hour.
I try to get out for daily walks, usually in the morning or at sunset.

What I've Let Go Of
This part matters just as much:
All-or-nothing thinking. One off day doesn't erase my progress.
Comparing my routine to someone else's highlight reel.
Routines that feel like punishment. If I dread it, I won't stick with it. (FACTS)
What Actually Works for Me
If I had to boil it down:
Sunlight and movement in the morning
Water first, and often
Nourishing food and supplements I trust
Time outside, ideally near the water
Permission to rest
None of it is fancy, but it adds up, and I feel better at 46 than I did in my 30s.
Your Turn
Wellness looks different for everyone, so take what resonates and leave the rest. If you're in your 40s or beyond and wondering whether it's too late to try something new, it isn't. You can start a new routine, move to a new state, or build something of your own at any age.
What's one small thing that makes you feel your best? I'd love to hear it in the comments.
